Abstract

"Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) In M.Night Shyamalan's Movie Split (2017): Psychoanalytic Perspective” was chosen as the title of this study to find out how the disease is shown in the film. The purpose of this study was to determine the background of dissociative identity disorder, dissociative identity disorder from a psychoanalytic perspective, and the reasons why M. Night Shyamalan wrote this issue in the film. This study uses qualitative methods. Researcher uses M.Night Shyamalan's movie as the source of the data. Data obtained by hermeneutics. First, the cause of the main character's illness is due to physical violence from his mother. Second, the analysis data found only 2 types. They are the id and the superego which contain seven scenes of the id and one scene of the super ego. The identity is often shown by the main character with physical violence. Other Super egos are indicated by morals. Finally, the reason the director wrote this issue in the film is to make people aware of this disease.
