Abstract

Adab is the good values that exist in the teachings of Islam and appear in a person's behavior as a condition for the formation of a noble personality. The discussion regarding the process of transmitting adab values in Islamic boarding schools is an interesting matter to study. This research is a qualitative research with a case study method. The purpose of this research is to describe the method and identify the factors that influence the transmission of adab values in Islamic boarding schools. Four ustadz as the main informants and eight students as supporting informants participated in this study. All informants were asked to provide information about the process of transmitting adab values. Data analysis techniques in this study used analytical techniques conceptualized by Miles and Huberman, including: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion of research results. The results of the study found four methods used in the process of transmitting adab values in Islamic boarding schools, including: advice, enforcement of rules, supervision, and outreach. While the factors that influence the process of transmitting adab values in Islamic boarding schools include: asatidz/asatidzah, family and the Islamic boarding school environment. The manager of the Islamic boarding school believes that the manners that are successfully transmitted to the students will make them better when they are undergoing the learning process at the Islamic boarding school. Research with the theme of transmitting adab values can be developed and improved by taking different research environments, including the orphanage environment, elementary school environment to tertiary institutions and the work environment.
