Abstract

The city of Surakarta has several museum attractions that are both charming and profitable to develop, but the low interest in visitors and stagnation in the number of visitors makes it necessary to set directed development priorities. The research entitled "Analysis of Potential and Development Priorities of Museum Tourism Objects in Surakarta City in 2022" aims to: (1) analyze the potential of museum tourism object in Surakarta City and (2) analyze the priority scale of museum tourism object development in Surakarta City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with data collection done by observation, interview and documentation. Observations were conducted by 3 observers using a wide range of observations that had been prepared previously. Data analysis was done by determining the research variables, scoring, classification of potential attractions and SWOT analysis. The results obtained are there are 3 museum attractions with high potential, namely Museum Suaka Budaya Keraton Kasunanan Surakarta (30.2), Pura Mangkunegaran Museum (29.6) and Keris Museum (28.9). While the other 2 museums are categorized as medium class, namely Batik Danar Hadi Museum (26.1) and Radya Pustaka Museum (24.4). Priority development of museum tourism objects is prioritized at Radya Pustaka Museum by providing special development in this museum by adding human resources in the field of conservation, revitalizing museum buildings and conducting promotions to increase public awareness of the importance of museums.
