Abstract

The city of Surakarta aims to become a prosperous, creative, modern, agile, and resilient cultural city. One of the platforms that can accommodate various activities for this purpose is the public library, as it combines all the essential aspects for Surakarta, including the education sector. The library is a public facility that houses collections of printed and recorded information, organizes and provides this information in various ways to meet the intellectual demands of its visitors, facilitate discussions, and enhance abilities by attracting the community's interest in visiting the library. A socially inclusive library transformation program is a strategic step that must be realized to achieve a prosperous society. A socially inclusive library is a place where people can explore new things while preserving and advocating for culture and human rights, and where they can learn about the many cultures that shape the world. This planning and design aims to create a library layout that can accommodate various activities and enhance the reading appeal for the Surakarta community by designing the library with a social inclusion approach, allowing all individuals or community groups in Surakarta to participate. The incorporation of elements from industrial architecture provides comfort to visitors during their activities, not only in terms of aesthetics but also in terms of visual, air, sound, and other components.
