Abstract
Based on UNESCO data, the percentage of Indonesian reading interest is still very low—only 0.01%. One reason is the lack of quality and quantity of libraries, especially in the regions, as happened in Wonogiri Regency. The literacy facilities available in Wonogiri are in the form of regional libraries and reading gardens in the villages. However, of the 42 reading gardens spread out, only about half are still active. In addition, there are still many schools in Wonogiri that do not have library facilities. The Regional Library of Wonogiri Regency is also considered inadequate in terms of facilities and completeness of books. In addition to the community's interest in literacy awareness, the community's interest, especially among the younger generation, in regional culture in Wonogiri is also lacking, even though Wonogiri is an area with a very rich traditional culture. However, there is no space that can accommodate artistic activities in a more centralized location that can be easily accessed by the people of Wonogiri Regency. Based on these problems, a space is needed that can accommodate various community needs for literacy, information, and education facilities, as well as a place for performing arts in Wonogiri. The concept applied to the design of this facility is the biophilic design concept, in which this approach has appropriate benefits for supporting learning activities, such as reducing stress, increasing creativity, and having a positive impact on development and learning processes.
