Abstract

Enforcement of intellectual property rights is very influential on the development of science or technology in Indonesia. Intellectual property rights can provide protection for traditional or local works so as to prevent work theft or copying of traditional works. Legal protection regarding Intellectual Property Rights in developing countries like Indonesia has not become a serious concern, this is based on the low number of applications for Intellectual Property Rights and the rampant legal violations of intellectual property rights. Another factor is the lack of understanding and the importance of intellectual property rights to the industry. One of them is the Pemalang goyor sarong weaving craft. The goyor woven sarong in Pemalang does not yet have proper legal protection. Based on these problems, the formulation of the problem that will be used to describe related problems is:1. What is the right form of intellectual property legal protection for the handicrafts of Goyor ATBM Pemalang Weaving Sarongs? And 2. What efforts can be made by the craftsmen of the Goyor ATBM Pemalang Weaving Sarong in order to obtain intellectual property law protection in Indonesia? By using empirical juridical research methods which conduct research directly to see the real conditions in these problems. Indonesia as a country that has a strong commitment to the protection of intellectual property rights has long been actively involved in both regional and international frameworks in the field of intellectual property rights. The goyor woven sarong in Pemalang is protected by intellectual property rights in the field of geographical indications. To obtain this right, the creator of the craft registers to apply for his work.
