Abstract

Mustard plant (Brassica juncea. L) is a type of vegetable that has good prospects and economic value. Seeding is a process of preparing seedlings in a certain container before planting in the original land. Today, Indonesians still sow vegetable seeds manually. Manual seeding has problems such as lack of time effectiveness so it takes a long time. Therefore, automatic seed sowing devices are designed with the aim of speeding up the process and answering human resource problems, namely reducing wage costs, and also introducing modern farmers by applying the latest technology. In this study, the seed sowing system will move for a few seconds with the aim of mustard seeds entering the sowing hole. There are two acrylics that will be driven by servos. The tray will run on a conveyor driven by a dc motor. The proximity sensor will detect the presence of the tray. The movement of various stages is controlled by Arduino Uno. The experimental results showed that the success rate of seedlings with mustard seeds, each tray hole containing 1 seed using a tool was greater than manual seeding. The success percentage is 75%. This tool has a seeding capacity of 247 trays / hour, greater than manual seeding which is only 208 trays / hour. In this study, an Arduino-based automatic mustard seed sowing device was able to work continuously and could shorten the process of seeding mustard seeds. The trays used are 5 trays with 16 holes. Researchers hope that this applied technology will be a motivation for farmers to develop technology for agriculture.
