Harihadi, Nur. emha.ucy@gmail.com. Q100210027. TYPES OF CHARISMATIC LEADERSHIP IN IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF DAARUL ARQOM KARANGANYAR MUHAMMADIYAH Islamic Boarding Schools. Thesis for the Master of Educational Administration Study Program at the Graduate School, Muhammadiyah University, Surakarta, 2023. The implementation of educational management in pesantren organizations is a very big responsibility for a caregiver as the leader of the pesantren. One of the leadership types of pesantren caregivers is the charismatic leadership type. This study aims to: 1) Explain the Role of Charismatic Leadership of Islamic Boarding School Caregivers in Improving the Quality of Daarul Arqom Karanganyar Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School; 2) Describe the Charismatic Leadership Characteristics of Islamic Boarding School Caregivers in Improving the Quality of the Muhammadiyah Daarul Arqom Karanganyar Islamic Boarding School; and 3) Explaining the Effectiveness Description of the Charismatic Leadership of Islamic Boarding School Caregivers in Improving the Quality of the Muhammadiyah Daarul Arqom Karanganyar Islamic Boarding School. This research was conducted using a qualitative method with an ethnographic design. The subjects of this study were pesantren caregivers, asatidz, and students. Data collection techniques were carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. The data validity technique was carried out by using technique and source triangulation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed that: 1) The role of the charismatic leadership of Islamic boarding school caregivers in improving the quality of Islamic boarding schools is implemented with Islamic boarding school caregivers carrying out the roles of educator, manager, administrator, evaluator, supervisor, leader, innovator, and motivator; 2) The leadership characteristics of pesantren caregivers in improving the quality of pesantren, namely: having good vision and articulation of pesantren, being able to control personal risks, having sensitivity to the environment and followers' needs, and having unconventional behavior; and 3) The description of the effectiveness of the charismatic leadership of Islamic boarding school caregivers in improving the quality of Islamic boarding schools can be seen from the achievements of the implementation of the components of the effectiveness of Islamic boarding school caregivers' charismatic leadership, namely: having a trusted attitude, having charismatic behavior, having an attractive vision, being a role model for members and communicating and coordinating its members . The conclusions of the study are (1) The role of the charismatic leadership of pesantren administrators in improving the quality of the Daarul Arqom Karanganyar Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School is well implemented; (2) The charismatic leadership characteristics of the caregivers of the Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School Daarul Arqom Karanganyar are well understood and implemented; and (3) Description of the effectiveness of the charismatic leadership of Muhammadiyah Daarul Arqom Karanganyar Islamic Boarding School caregivers, assessed based on trusted attitudes, charismatic behavior, attractive vision, being a role model for members, communicating and coordinating its members.
