Abstract
Prostitution is a trafficking practice that involves sexual activity in exchange for compensation or reward. One of the terms used for prostitutes is commercial sex workers (PSK). There are many factors that force a person to choose the profession of commercial sex work as his livelihood. Therefore, it is not impossible for someone to want to get out of the world of prostitution. However, there are many challenges that must be experienced by former prostitutes in starting the page of their lives, thus affecting subjective well being. Which, subjective well being is important for the development of life. Having a high subjective well being is also important for former commercial sex workers so that they feel satisfied with their new life. The aim of the study was to examine the relationship of optimism with subjective well being in former commercial sex workers. The population in the study was beneficiaries of women's social service institutions who were former commercial sex workers. This study used a quantitative approach. The number of samples in this study was 37 respondents with purposive sampling techniques. Data collection tools in the form of questionnaires on the scale of optimism, body image, and subjective well being. The analysis technique in this study uses product moment correlation. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between optimism and subjective well being in former commercial sex workers, namely with the results of R = 0.529. Then optimism with subjective well being value r = 0.280; means that there is a positive and significant relationship between optimism and subjective well being in former commercial sex workers. The contribution of optimism to subjective well being is 28%. The remaining 72% is influenced by other variables.
