Abstract
As many as 27.08% of the causes of maternal death in Central Java Province in 2016 were hypertension during pregnancy or preeclampsia. One of the factors that is closely related to the occurrence of preeclampsia is obesity. The incidence of preeclampsia in pregnancy is more common in overweight or obese women. One way to identify overweight in adults is to use BMI. The purpose of this study was to describe the value of Body Mass Index (BMI) in pregnant women with pre-eclampsia at Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. This research method is a quantitative research, with a descriptive survey research design. The number of samples in this study were 54 respondents. By using the total sampling technique, where there are predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument used in this study was patient medical records. So the data used in this study is secondary data. The results of this study showed that the Body Mass Index (BMI) of mothers who had a normal weight BMI category were 10 people (18.5%), mothers who had an overweight BMI category were 16 people (29.6%) ), and 28 mothers (51.9%) had the category of overweight BMI (Obese). Based on the frequency distribution, it can be concluded that the majority are in the category of obese BMI as many as 28 respondents (51.9%) of a total sample of 54 respondents. There were 13 women (24.1%) who had mild preeclampsia and 41 women (75.9%) had severe preeclampsia. Based on the frequency distribution, it can be concluded that the majority were in the category of severe preeclampsia, as many as 41 people (75.9%) from a total sample of 54 respondents.
