Abstract

Advances in information technology in fact not only bring positive but also negative impacts.One of the negative impacts is the toxicity of social media users.In social media people become more free in conveying what they want to say without any restrictions. In social media, someone can freely say something that they don't say in the real world. In this qualitative research, the authors provide an overview of the toxic nature of the virtual world through an interpretive approach. By providing a few screenshots of malicious comments on social media, it proves that virtual toxicity exists and is commonplace. However, virtual toxicity is actually a serious matter because the impact of toxic media on social media is very serious and can even lead to someone's death. Virtual toxic is included in heart disease, in terms of surah Asy-Syams itself verses 7 to 10 people who become toxic on social media are those who deify their desires. people who deify their passions tend to find it difficult to see the truth and focus only on what pleases them. In fact, everyone is equipped with two good and bad potentials with the same degree. Someone who is able to suppress his bad traits and prioritize his good qualities will become a wiser person in social media.
