Abstract

The objectives of this study are 1) to describe the forms of figurative language contained in the song lyrics in the album Sinestesia by Efek Rumah Kaca, and 2) to explain the relevance of the research results as teaching materials for literature in SMA. This research is classified as a type of qualitative descriptive research because the data obtained by the author is in the form of words. The object of this research is figurative language in the song lyrics of the Sinestesia album by Efek Rumah Kaca. The subject of this research is the album Sinestesia by Efek Rumah Kaca. The research data is in the form of song lyrics containing figurative language on the album Sinestesia by Efek Rumah Kaca. Data collection techniques in this study used notes and literature. The data analysis technique used in this study uses the semiotic model reading method. Based on the results of research in the album Sinestesia by Efek Rumah Kaca, it was found 1) Eight types of figure of speech, namely metaphor, irony, cynicism, satire, personification, sarcasm, innuendo, and eponym with a total of forty-two sentences. 2) The results of figurative language research on the song lyrics of the Sinestesia album are in accordance with core competency 3.17 to analyze the building blocks of poetry.
