Abstract

The behavior of consuming alcoholic beverages shows an increasing tendency from year to year resulting in forms of delinquency, fights, immoral acts and an increase in thugism. The habit of adolescents to consume alcoholic beverages is inseparable from parental parenting and the conformity of the individual with his peers. This research is a correlational quantitative study. The hypothesis of this study is that there is a relationship between parental parenting and conformity with the behavior of drinking alcoholic beverages. The sample of this study was adolescents aged 17-25 years and had consumed alcoholic beverages in Sukasari Subang Village as many as 111 respondents. The data collection method uses a parenting scale, a group conformity scale and an alcoholic beverage drinking scale. The data analysis method uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the data analysis showed that there was a relationship between parental parenting and group conformity with drinking alcoholic beverages, with an F value of 8.125 and a p-value of 0.001. The correlation of parental parenting with alcoholic beverage behavior shows a negative relationship with a value of r -0.225 and a p-value of 0.009, meaning that the better the parenting style, the lower the behavior of drinking alcoholic beverages. The correlation between group conformity and the behavior of drinking alcoholic beverages shows a positive relationship with an r value of 0.290 and a p-value of 0.001, meaning that the stronger the conformity to the group, the higher the behavior of drinking alcoholic beverages. The effective contribution of group conformity and parenting variables obtained a value of 0.131 which means that group conformity and parental parenting patterns have an influence of 131.% on the behavior of drinking alcoholic beverages. The group conformity variable influenced the behavior of drinking alcoholic beverages by 8.21% and the parental parenting variable influenced the behavior of drinking alcoholic beverages by 4.86%. and 86.9% was influenced by other factors.
