Abstract
The emergence of covid-19 that occurred in March 2020 spread very quickly. So the Indonesian government issued regulations to limit activities outside the home and limit direct social interaction. All activities are carried out at home online. In meeting the needs during the pandemic, online shopping is the community's main choice because it can implement social distancing. With the increase in online shopping activities, it can affect consumptive behavior in society, especially teenagers. Consumptive behavior is defined as a form of individual behavior in consuming goods and services without limits without being based on considerations of effectiveness in fulfilling their desires in order to obtain maximum satisfaction. The occurrence of consumptive behavior can be influenced by several factors, one of which is conformity which is a form of self-adaptation due to the influence of social groups. This study aims to determine the correlation between conformity and consumptive behavior through online media in adolescents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Respondents in this study had criteria, including active students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta with an age range of 18 – 24 years and had been/is currently doing online shopping activities. This research has 140 respondents. In taking the sample using cluster sampling technique. The method used is a quantitative method. The method used in data collection uses a consumptive behavior scale and a conformity scale which is shared online through the google form platform. In conducting data analysis, this study uses product moment correlation analysis techniques. The results showed that there was a significant negative relationship between conformity and consumptive behavior in adolescents during the covid-19 pandemic, the correlation coefficient score (rxy) = -0.141 and the significance score (p) = 0.049.
