Abstract

The objective of this research are: (1) to find out teacher’s strategies in teaching paragraph writing at SMK Muhammadiyah 03 Surakarta; (2) to find out problems that faced by the teacher in teaching paragraph writing at SMK Muhammadiyah 03 Surakarta; (3) to describe teacher’s solution of those problems faced by the teacher in teaching writing paragraph at SMK Muhammadiyah 03 Surakarta. The type of research is qualitative descriptive. The data was field interview transcripts. The data sources were English teacher, and student. The data was collected through interview to the English teacher and student. The results of this research shows that the teacher used three strategies (1) using interesting media, (2) interaction approach, (3) process approach. Problems that faced by the teacher in teaching paragraph writing are (1) students’ vocabulary skills, (2) students’ interest in paragraph writing. Teacher’s solution to solved the problems are (1) memorizing new vocabulary, (2) give relevant examples.
