Abstract

The research aimed to describe problems in the content of quantity in PISA student’s metacognition in solving Mathematics quantity, the type of research is descriptive qualitative research. Subject of the study are 3 students of IX A at SMPN 2 Baturetno in the academic year 2017/2018, they are categorized as high, average and low ability .Data collecting techniques of the research are test, video recording, and interview. The validity of the data is checked by using data triangulation, source tringulation and language suitability validation. Data analysis techniques of the research are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions / verification. The results of the study show that: (1) On metacognitive knowledge, students with high and average ability are able to fill all of sub-indicators except sub-indicator of understanding the alternative to solve problems . Students with low ability can only fulfill sub-indicators that understand what is known, what is unknown and can solve the problem, (2) On metacognition skills, students with high ability are able to fill all indicators except monitoring indicators whereas students with average ability can only fill the planning indicators and students with low ability are only able to write the source of information from the problem and review of the results
