Abstract

High blood pressure is influenced by several risk factors, including stress and low fiber consumption. These risk factors are included in the risk factors that can be changed, so that the incidence of high blood pressure originating from these risk factors can be reduced. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between stress levels and consumption of fiber with blood pressure in members of the 074 Warastratama Surakarta Military Command. This study used a cross-sectional study design and was conducted in Korem 074 Warastratama Surakarta. This study used a cross-sectional study design and was conducted in Korem 074 Warastratama Surakarta. The research subjects were 133 respondents taken by consecutive sampling technique. Collecting stress level data using the DASS 42 questionnaire, fiber consumption data using the SQ-FFQ questionnaire, blood pressure data using a sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results of the chi-square test showed that there was a significant relationship between stress levels and blood pressure (p = 0,000), while the relationship between fiber consumption and blood pressure showed no significant relationship (p = 0,356). This study concluded that stress levels were significantly associated with blood pressure and fiber consumption was not significantly associated with blood pressure.
