Abstract

Genuine gender difference is not a problem as long as it does not give rise to gender inequalities. However, the issue is that gender differences have created various injustices, both for men and especially for women. Not only in the scope of society, gender inequality is also found in literary works.This study aims to describe (1) the sociocultural background of Ratna Sarumpaet, (2) the drama script structure of Jamila dan Sang Presiden, (3) the gender inequalities contained in the drama of Jamila dan Sang Presiden, (4) the implementation of research results as teaching materials in Senior High School. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The data in this study are words, phrases, sentences, and discourses contained in the drama script Jamila dan Sang Presiden. The data sources in this research are drama script Jamila dan Sang Presiden of Ratna Sarumpaet. Techniques of collecting data used in the form of literature techniques and references and techniques record. Technique of data analysis in this research is method of reading of semiotic model. The results of the study and discussion were (1) the sociohistorical background of Ratna Sarumpaet which was born on July 16, 1948 in Tarutung, North Tapanuli, (2) the drama script structure of Jamila dan Sang Presiden with the theme of child trafficking. Plots consisting of expositions, conflicts, complications, crises, resolutions and decisions. (3) gender inequalities that include gender and marginalization of women, gender and subordination, gender and stereotypes, gender and violence, gender and workload, (4) implementation of gender inequalities research results in Jamila dan Sang Presiden drama script as teaching material in Senior High School XII class because according to criterion of teaching materials that is language, psychology, and cultural background.
