Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the author’s socio-historical background in Beauty is wound novel by Eka Kurniawan, (2) to describe the structure that built the novel beauty is wound by Eka Kurniawan interms of feminist literature, (3) describe the gender aspect contained in the novel beauty in wound novel by Eka Kurniawan feminist literature, (4) describe the implementation of gender injustice in beauty is wound novel as a literary learning in high school. The method used is descriptive qualitative with the object of research in the form of gender aspect in the novel by Eka Kurniawan published by PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama as 505 pages thick. Techniques of collecting data using library technique. Data analysis teachiques use semiotic reading method. Baesed on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded as follows: (1) Eka Kurniawan sosiohistoris beckgroud, a sastwaran who raised the struggle of one’s life stuggle in colonial times; (2) structurally, the plot in the novel beauty is wound ia a mixture, the main character in the novel is Dewi Ayu and the additional characters Alamanda, Sang Shondaco, Maman Gendeng, Maya Dewi, Adinda and Kemerd Kliwon. The time frame accurred in 1945. The social backroud is struggle of women and children in colonial period. Background of the place occurred in Halimundar. (3) gender injustice in beauty is wound novel there are five gender aspects, (a) gender and marginalization of women, (b) gender and subordinasi, (c) gender and steorotype, (d) gender and violence, (e) gender and workload. (4) the result of this study can also be implemented into literary in SMA especially class XII.
