Abstract

This study purposes to improve students' self-confidence in mathematics subjects in grade X students of SMA Negeri 1 Kayen through peer tutoring strategy. This research is a Class Action Research (PTK). In this study, the subject of research is teachers and students of SMA Negeri 1 Kayen, especially class X MIPA Negeri 1 Kayen, Class X MIPA 1 mathematics 35 students, consisting of 10 male students and 25 female students. Data collection technique used in this research is interview, observation, and documentation study. The results showed an increase in self-confidence math subjects in grade X SMA Negeri 1 Kayen through peer-tutoring strategy. This can be seen by: bravery students ask questions as many as 2 students (5.71%) to 23 students (65.71%). Active students responded to questions given by the teacher as many as 3 students (8.57%) to 26 students (74.29%). Students who dare to do the problem in front of as many as 11 students (31,43%) to 29 students (82,86%). Based on the results of research can be concluded that Learning with peer tutoring strategy is very effective in improving student confidence in learning mathematics.
