Abstract

This study aims to examine (1) the effect of compensation on work motivation (2) the effect of compensation on employee performance (3) the influence of motivation on employee performance (4) the effect of compensation on employee performance with motivation as intermediate variable. The sample used in this research is 56 employees at the Badan Pendapatan Pengelolaan Keuangan dan Aset Daerah (BPPKAD) Kota Surakarta through questionnaires with sampling technique purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques used are classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis with hypothesis testing, t test and F test. The result of t test analysis shows the partial influence between compensation to motivation, compensation to employee performance and motivation to employee performance. While the F test data shows the influence of simultaneously variable compensation and motivation have a significant effect on employee performance. Furthermore, path analysis shows that motivation is proven to mediate the effect of compensation on employee performance.
