Abstract

This research aims at describing the English teaching learning process at the nineth grade of SMPN 1 Wonosalam Demak. It is conducted to describe the process English teaching learning, teacher’s and student’s role, curriculum, syllabus, methods and problem faced by the teacher and the students in English teaching learning process at the NINETH grade of SMPN 1 Wonosalam Demak. The writer gets the data of this research from event, informant and document. The techniques of collecting data are the interview, observation and documentations. The data are information related to the English teaching learning process and problems faced by the teacher and the students at SMPN 1 Wonosalam Demak. The results of the analysis show first that the teacher uses ICARE system in English teaching learning process. Second the methods applied by teacher are brainstorming, answer and question, demonstration, lecturing, discussion, exposition and assignment method. NINETH the teacher problems faced by teacher are 1) The teacher finds difficulties in managing the students in the class, to solve this problem the teacher walks around the class in order to make the students listen to the explanation seriously. 2) The students have low motivation in learning English, to solve this problem the teacher can bring a picture or other things when she explains the material. 3) Each student has different capability in receiving the material, to solve this problem the teacher should explain the material until the students understand and the teacher also gives some exercises to know how far the students understand the explanation of the material. 4) The teacher feels lack of time in teaching English because there are many materials, to solve this problem the teacher must replace the loss time in the previous meeting to explain the unfinished material in the next meeting. 5) The teacher needs more time, fund, energy, and equipment of the activity of preparing to implement, to solve this problem the teacher needs more time, fund, energy, and equipment of the activity of preparing to implement the ICARE system. Fourth the problems faced by the student are 1) The students cannot memorize the vocabulary well, to solve this problem the teacher to gives motivation and teach the vocabulary repeatedly to the students and to ask them to practice English with their friends or their teacher. 2) The students do not have bravery to express their opinion in speaking class, to solve this problem the teacher to gives motivation and guide them to perform well. The teacher should ensure the students that making mistakes is usual and it can be a motivation to correct the mistake.
