Abstract

This study aims to describe the difficulty of students in solving the problem of mathematical story material fractions using NEA (Newman Error Analysis) Class IV SDN 1 Jintung. This study uses qualitative research methods with Phenomenological Research Design which in this study is explained about the difficulties of students in solving mathematical story problems of fractional material. In this study the data collection techniques used are tests, interviews, and observations. In this study, data analysis techniques using NEA (Newman Error Analysis). The validity of the data used in this study is source triangulation. The results of this study showed that students have difficulty in solving the problem of fractional material math story, namely: (1) difficulty in reading problem stage (reading) by 16.6%, (2) difficulty in understanding problem stage (comprehension) by 48.1%, (3) difficulty in transformation problem stage (transformation) by 99.3%, (4)difficulty in process skill stage (process skill) by 70.9%, (5)difficulty in writing final answer stage (encoding) by 99.3%.
