Abstract
The prevalence of stunting in 2019 is as much as 7,8%. LBW and exclusive breastfeeding can be risk factors. Children with LBW have impaired absorption of nutrients and are at risk of experiencing infectious diseases that can affect children's growth. Exclusive breastfeeding gives children the immune system to avoid the risk of infection which can cause impaired absorption of nutrients and inhibit child growth such as stunting. This study was to determine the correlation between LBW and exclusive breastfeeding to the stunting incident in children under two years at Gilingan Public Health Center. This research was a retrospective study with secondary data in August 2020 from Gilingan Public Health Center. The sample used in this study was 48 children aged 7-24 months in August 2020. LBW data, history of exclusive breastfeeding, and anthropometric data were taken from the cohort and monitoring report of the children at Gilingan Public Health Center by using simple random sampling method. Data analysis method using Chi Square test. Studies showed that the percentage of children with LBW was 25% and children who were not exclusive breastfeeding was 58.3%. Test results showed a significant correlation between LBW with stunting incidence (p=0.049; OR 95% CI:5.00 (1,195-20,922)) and there is no significant correlation between exclusive breastfeeding with stunting incidence (p=0.499; OR 95% CI:0.625 (0,159-2,456)). There was a significant correlation between LBW with stunting incidence and no significant correlation between exclusive breastfeeding with stunting incidence in Gilingan Public Health Center.
