Abstract

Introduction: The mother's ignorance of the correct technique of breastfeeding will have an impact on breastfeeding, this can lead to failure in the breastfeeding process. The effort to increase the knowledge of mothers by providing health education about breastfeeding techniques is an effective step to improve the quality of exclusive breastfeeding so that the baby's growth can be maximized. The use of explicit instruction method will increase the knowledge, understanding, and skills of the mother, because this method emphasizes the learning process directly. Research Method: Pre–experimental study with quantitative analysis and pretest–posttest design without any control group (one group pre–post test design). The population of this study were 35 respondents with purposive sampling technique, so that the sample was 29 respondents according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection using questionnaires and analyzed using the Paired Sample t–test. Research Results: The average knowledge of pregnant women before being given health education about breastfeeding techniques is 21.14 and after being given health education is 22.89. Paired Sample t–test results p–value of 0,000 with a significance value of less than 5% (0,000 ≤ 0,05). Conclusion: There is the influence of health education about breastfeeding techniques with the explicit instruction method on the knowledge of pregnant women in Ngemplak Kartasura Village.
