Abstract

This research aims to design an Internet of Things (IoT)-based electrical energy consumption monitoring system for household appliances. The system uses an ESP32 DevKit V1 microcontroller as the main controller and a PZEM-004T sensor to measure electrical parameters, including voltage, current, power, and energy consumption (kWh). The measurement data are displayed on a 20×4 LCD and transmitted to the Blynk application via an internet connection, enabling real-time monitoring through a smartphone. The system is also equipped with a relay module to control electrical load switching. The research methods include system design, device development, testing, and measurement analysis. The results show that the system can monitor various load conditions with voltage ranges of 212.4–223.5 V, current of 0.18–1.54 A, power of 25.2–314.6 W, energy consumption of 0.027–0.292 kWh, and estimated electricity costs of Rp38.988–Rp421.648. The developed system successfully provides real-time energy monitoring and supports more efficient and controlled household electricity usage.
