Abstract

The increasing flexibility of working and learning patterns has caused productive activities, such as working and studying, to become increasingly integrated with residential activities. This condition requires housing that not only functions as a place to live but also supports productive activities in a comfortable, efficient, and flexible manner. Relatively static spatial arrangements may create conflicts between living, working, and learning activities, as well as comfort problems caused by inappropriate spatial and environmental conditions. This design aims to develop an ergonomic-based adaptive productive housing area to support flexible work patterns in Surakarta. The design method includes data collection, literature and precedent studies, user and activity analysis, spatial requirements and relationship analysis, site analysis, and design synthesis. The design applies three main aspects: productive, adaptive, and ergonomic. The productive aspect integrates residential functions with workspaces, study areas, and communal facilities. The adaptive aspect is implemented through spatial flexibility and modularity, while the ergonomic aspect is applied through appropriate spatial and furniture dimensions, circulation, lighting, ventilation, and environmental comfort. The result is a residential area that integrates living, working, studying, and social interaction within a flexible and comfortable environment.
