Abstract
The Jogja-Wonosari corridor to tourist destinations in Gunungkidul Regency includes inclines, winding sections, and elevation changes that require sustained driver concentration. Existing stopping facilities remain dispersed, so rest needs, basic user services, and vehicle services are not yet accommodated within a single organized complex. This design project aims to develop an integrated rest area in Bunder, Patuk, that is safe, legible, and supportive of attention restoration. The design method follows an analysis-synthesis process based on literature review and secondary data, field observation, precedent studies, and analyses of the site, users, spatial requirements, zoning, and circulation. The resulting design applies the Restorative Environment approach through the Restorative Threshold concept, expressed in a linear and layered multi-building arrangement that transitions from vehicle-service zones to quieter public and restorative zones. One-way circulation, separation of vehicular and pedestrian routes, and parking allocation by vehicle type reduce movement conflicts. Attention Restoration Theory is implemented through separation from disturbance sources, visual connections to vegetation, natural light, continuous routes, and varied resting options in the Restorative Lounge. The design integrates a fuel station, a light vehicle inspection and service area, public facilities, rest spaces, accessibility, utilities, and environmental management to support user safety, comfort, and attention restoration.
