Abstract

Traffic congestion and the increasing use of private vehicles are consequences of urban growth and the rising demand for mobility. These conditions highlight the need for an integrated, efficient, and sustainable transportation system. Railway stations play a strategic role as transportation hubs that connect various modes of transport, enabling more effective passenger movement. Bekasi Station is one of the busiest railway stations, serving a high volume of passengers. However, it still faces several challenges, including inadequate intermodal integration, inefficient circulation, and limited supporting facilities. Therefore, a redesign is proposed to improve the quality of services and enhance the overall function of the station area. This design aims to redevelop Bekasi Station as an integrated urban transportation hub through the implementation of the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) approach, which emphasizes transportation integration, pedestrian accessibility, and optimal land use. The design process employs existing condition analysis, literature review, and precedent studies. The proposed design is expected to create a more integrated, comfortable, and efficient station that supports public mobility while promoting sustainable urban development.
