Abstract

Boyolali Regency holds significant potential for developing its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector, particularly regarding copper and brass crafts in Tumang and Glugu batik in Ngenden. These sectors contribute significantly to local economic advancement by creating jobs and empowering the community. However, this potential is currently hindered by challenges such as a lack of promotional facilities, minimal collaboration, suboptimal digital marketing, and the absence of an integrated hub for production, education, and marketing activities. To address this, a Creative and MSME Center has been designed for Boyolali to serve as a platform for developing the creative economy based on local strengths, employing a contextual architectural approach that harmonizes the building with the area's physical, social, and cultural conditions and character. The design process involved direct observation, literature reviews, site analysis, and spatial requirement assessments, identifying the Boyolali Southern Town Square (Alun-Alun Kidul) as the ideal location due to its excellent accessibility and proximity to the government center, public facilities, and major transportation routes. The building is designed to facilitate education, production, promotion, social interaction, and educational recreation, while incorporating considerations such as solar orientation, wind direction, circulation, spatial zoning, natural lighting, cross-ventilation, and the use of local materials. This facility is expected to enhance the competitiveness of local products, strengthen regional identity, and serve as a new landmark that fosters the growth of the creative economy in Boyolali Regency.
