Abstract

Indonesia has recorded brilliant achievements in various Paralympic sporting events, from the National Paralympic Week to the ASEAN Para Games. However, behind these achievements, there is a striking display between the achievements of athletes and the availability of truly adaptive sports facilities for them. Karanganyar Regency, which already has a Paralympic Training Center, still faces limitations, especially in the sports training building and dormitory, which only has 188 rooms, unable to accommodate all the needs of athletes with disabilities. This design aims to present an inclusive sports complex area integrated with the Paralympic Training Center, equipped with a Sports Building and additional dormitories intended for athletes with disabilities. The approach is based on the principle of inclusivity, namely designing spaces and facilities that are accessible to all groups without segregating users with special needs from other users. The design began with a site analysis, a post-occupancy evaluation of the Paralympic Training Center, a review of sports building standards and dormitories for athletes with disabilities, and a review of precedents for similar buildings at the international level. The result is a regional concept that combines functional zoning, building massing, accessible circulation for people with disabilities measuring at least 150 cm, guide blocks, ramps and automatic sliding doors, and the selection of structures, materials and technologies that support the comfort of users with disabilities. This design is expected to be able to become a training center for athletes with disabilities that is worthy, international standards, and open to the general public, while also being a tangible manifestation of the commitment to inclusivity in the world of sports.
