Abstract

Pasar Jodoh Tos 3000 in Batam is a vital trade center for basic commodities within the Jodoh-Nagoya area of Batam City. However, the market suffers from severe physical and operational deficiencies, including street vending spillover onto Jalan Duyung, severe traffic congestion, poor sanitation, and mixed circulation paths. This study aims to propose a market redesign based on Behavioral Architecture principles while complying with the SNI 8152:2015 standards for Type III Public Markets (Pasar Rakyat Tipe III). Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method integrated with behavioral mapping and direct observation, the design proposal applies four core behavioral pillars: Wayfinding through color-coded zoning and signage featuring local Malay ornaments; Territoriality via clear spatial segregation between wet and dry zones as well as dedicated prayer areas; Behavior Setting through shopping buffers and time-sharing culinary zones; and Behavioral Accessibility incorporating separated logistics channels, a barrier-free single-story layout, and a central restaurant zone designed to alleviate circulation density. This redesign aims to transform a congested market into a modern, user-friendly, and culturally grounded commercial hub.
