Abstract
Taman Nyi Ageng Rakit in the Rawa Jombor area, Klaten Regency, is a waterfront public space with potential as a venue for community social and economic activities. However, current conditions indicate deteriorating facility quality, suboptimal spatial arrangement, and underutilized local economic potential particularly craft and culinary small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that remain unintegrated within the site system. These conditions have led to a significant decline in visitor attractiveness and visit frequency. This study aims to formulate a revitalization concept through physical and non-physical approaches to enhance spatial quality, reinforce the waterfront tourism character, and foster sustainable community empowerment. The methodology encompasses literature review, field observation, interviews with site managers and local community members, and post-occupancy evaluation analysis. The design results indicate that spatial rezoning based on waterfront principles, provision of SME kiosks and craft workshop spaces, upgrading the amphitheater as a cultural event venue, and establishing a shuttle service from the Solo - Yogyakarta main road corridor can improve accessibility while reactivating site activities. From a management perspective, a structured activity program was developed ranging from regular community performances and monthly festivals to annual large-scale events inviting artists and cultural figures from various cities—with active involvement of local SMEs. The resulting design concept emphasizes the creation of an adaptive, productive, and sustainable waterfront tourism space through the integration of physical spatial planning and a community empowerment system.
