Abstract
Brebes Regency is the largest producer of shallots in Indonesia, making a significant contribution to the local economy and national food security. However, this potential is generally still dominated by production and distribution activities, while the use of the area as a venue for education and recreation has not yet been optimized. The design of the Brebes Shallot Agrotourism aims to integrate the productive agricultural sector with tourism through an Experience-Based Approach. This design method emphasizes multisensory interaction, where visitors not only observe but are directly involved in the cultivation, care, and post-harvest processes of shallots. By selecting a site in a strategic area along the Pejagan-Bumiayu corridor, this area is designed to accommodate learning, production, and recreational functions within a harmonious unity. The design implementation includes the use of smart farming technologies such as automatic irrigation and rainwater harvesting systems to support environmental sustainability. The result of this design concept is an interactive educational tourism destination that is expected to enhance the economic value of local commodities, strengthen agricultural literacy among the younger generation, and create an educational and meaningful spatial experience for visitors.
