Abstract
Reading skills are an important basic competency for grade VII students, but many still have difficulty in understanding texts. Conventional learning methods that are less interesting are often the cause of reading interest skills. Therefore, innovations are needed such as game-based learning based on the Quizizz application, which offers interactive quizzes with game elements so that it can improve the design of Quizizz learning on students' reading and understanding skills. In addition to making learning more fun, Quizizz also trains reading speed, provides direct feedback, and can be used flexibly. With these advantages, the application of Quizizz is an effective solution in improving students' reading skills. This study aims to analyze the process and results of improving reading skills through game-based learning based on Quizizz in grade VII students of MTsN 2 Surakarta. The method used is classroom action research (CAR) with an approach consisting of planning, observation, reflection, qualitative and quantitative descriptive. Data were collected through observation, reading tests, interviews, and questionnaires. The analysis was carried out by comparing pre-cycle conditions.
