Abstract
The design of the Boyolali Health Office was motivated by the limitations of the existing building that was unable to accommodate the activities of space requirements along with the changes that occurred. Limited land and the status of cultural heritage buildings in the existing condition are the main obstacles in carrying out development because they limit the expansion or physical changes to the building. The purpose of this design is to design the Boyolali Health Office that is able to accommodate all work activities and services that are adaptive to change and support environmental sustainability with an Adaptive Architecture approach. The methods used in this design include literature studies, field observations, interviews, and comparative studies of buildings with similar functions. The results of the design include the provision of flexible and multifunctional spaces, the use of modular furniture, and a building design that can respond to environmental conditions. The addition of several room facilities and building elements was also carried out to improve user comfort. The design concept emphasizes spatial flexibility, spatial layout, response to the environment, the application of sustainable elements. By applying the Adaptive Architecture approach, it is hoped that the Boyolali Health Office will become a building that is able to adapt to changing functional needs, the growth in the number of users, and climate change so that it remains sustainable in the future.
