Abstract

Background: The diagnosis and clinical management of cancer often trigger significant physical, psychological, and financial distress for patients. This condition directly has the potential to decrease their quality of life during treatment. To cope with this heavy disease burden, strong psychological adaptability or resilience is essential. Resilience acts as a crucial coping mechanism enabling pat ients to maintain their psychological well-being and quality of life amid health limitations. Objective: This study aims to describe the levels of resilience and quality of life in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at RSUD Dr. Moewardi. Methods: This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique utilized accidental sampling, involving a total of 106 cancer patient respondents. Resilience data were collected using the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) instrument, while quality of life was measured using the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately to present the frequency and percentage distribution of each variable. Results: The results indicated that the majority of cancer patients exhibited a high level of resilience. Meanwhile, the quality of life profile showed that the majority of patients reported very good conditions in the physical health and psychological health domains, alongside good conditions in the social relationships and environmental health domains. Conclusion: Cancer patients in this study generally demonstrated a high level of resilience and a good quality of life. Based on these findings, nursing and healthcare services are expected not to focus solely on medical or physical interventions, but also to integrate continuous psychosocial support programs to enhance patient resilience and achieve an optimal quality of life.
