Abstract

The air intake system is one of the factors that affects combustion efficiency and the performance of a four-stroke gasoline engine. Changes in throttle body diameter can influence the amount of air entering the combustion chamber, thereby affecting torque, power output, and specific fuel consumption (SFC). This study aims to analyze the effect of throttle body diameter variations on engine performance and fuel efficiency in a 110 cc automatic motorcycle and to determine the most optimal diameter. The research was conducted using a 110 cc fuel-injected automatic motorcycle. The throttle body diameters tested were 22 mm (standard), 24 mm, 26 mm, and 28 mm. Torque and power measurements were carried out using a dynamometer within an engine speed range of 2000–8000 rpm, while SFC testing was performed using a fuel consumption measurement device. Each throttle body variation was tested three times to ensure data accuracy. The results showed that the 26 mm throttle body produced the best performance, achieving a maximum torque of 16.07 Nm, a maximum power output of 7.5 HP, and the lowest SFC value of 0.152 kg/HP·h. Based on the experimental results, the 26 mm throttle body provided the best balance between performance improvement and fuel efficiency, making it the most optimal size for application in a 110 cc automatic motorcycle.
