Abstract

The Kaosan Official main warehouse faces inventory control challenges due to uncertain demand from branches and unpredictable order lead times from the factory, resulting in stockouts for several products. This study aims to identify demand and lead-time characteristics and evaluate stockout risks by comparing current conditions with a proposed scenario—specifically, the implementation of calculated safety stock and reorder point values. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing data on demand (June–October 2025), lead times (January–August 2025), orders (June–October 2025), and inventory levels (June 2025) for 10 fast-moving short-sleeved t-shirt Stock Keeping Units (SKUs). Historical data analysis revealed fluctuating demand, with the highest demand observed for black short-sleeved t-shirts (1,531.2 units), while lead times ranged from 8 to 266 days. Demand simulations successfully replicated past patterns, and lead-time simulations showed a predominance of lead times between 0 and 50 days (probability of 0.71), yielding an estimated average lead time of 51 days. Safety stock and reorder point calculations produced distinct values for each SKU, reflecting their specific demand characteristics. Implementing the proposed inventory policy—formulated using Monte Carlo simulation-based forecasts to determine reorder points and safety stock—reduced stockout frequency from 8 occurrences to zero (a 100% reduction) and eliminated total stock shortages (reducing them from 2,634 units to zero, or 100%), thereby proving more effective at enhancing product availability at the Kaosan Official main warehouse.
