Abstract

The use of recycled coarse aggregates, such as waste roof tiles from demolition, is increasingly being applied to reduce the exploitation of natural resources and support sustainable development. However, the substitution of natural aggregate with waste materials often results in a decrease in concrete compressive strength, requiring material reinforcement. This study aims to analyze the effect of polypropylene fiber (SikaFiber PPM-12) substitution on concrete containing waste roof tile aggregates as a replacement material. The mix design was prepared based on SNI 7656:2012 with a target compressive strength of 25 MPa. SikaFiber was added at variations of 0.5 kg/m³ and 0.7 kg/m³, combined with Sika ViscoCrete 3115 N superplasticizer. The specimens were cured by immersion for 28 days before being evaluated through compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and flexural strength tests. The test results showed that the use of 30% waste roof tile aggregate without admixtures tended to reduce the concrete strength. With the addition of SikaFiber combined with superplasticizer at a 0.5 kg/m³ variation, the concrete strength and workability began to increase. When the SikaFiber content was further increased to 0.7 kg/m³, the concrete strength and workability increased even further. Therefore, it can be concluded that the addition of SikaFiber to concrete containing 30% waste roof tile aggregate can improve concrete strength and compensate for the reduction in performance caused by the use of recycled waste aggregate.
