Abstract
This study aims to design and implement an ESP32 microcontroller-based dual-axis solar tracker system to achieve dynamic control over solar panel positioning, utilizing both automatic and manual modes via the Blynk Internet of Things (IoT) platform. The automatic system employs four Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensors to track the direction of sunlight in real-time, while manual control is integrated to facilitate remote physical maintenance. Testing of the automatic mode demonstrated the system's success in orienting the panel to follow the sun's movement from east (18°–22° angle) to west (149°–160° angle), tracing a vertical parabolic path that reached peak elevation at 12:00 WIB (48°–56° angle) when light intensity exceeded 105,000 Lux. Regarding manual control, data translation from the Blynk slider widget via the PCA9685 driver operated precisely, although an actual angular deviation of 1° to 5° was observed due to insufficient rigidity in the shaft support structure. Power analysis results confirm that the solar tracker generates significantly more optimal energy compared to a static panel, with a total daily production of 252.94 Wh versus 181.65 Wh. This advantage yields an energy harvest surplus of +71.29 Wh (+39.24%). After deducting the system's own power consumption of 5.88 Wh, the system achieved a positive Net Energy Gain of +65.41 Wh, representing a net energy supply increase of +36.01%, thereby proving the system to be highly effective and advantageous.
