Abstract
The inter-car power distribution system in Electric Rail Trains (KRL) plays an important role in supplying electrical energy to the auxiliary systems installed in each carriage. Power transmission through inter-car cables may result in conductor resistance, voltage drop, and power losses that affect the quality and efficiency of electrical power distribution. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of inter-car power distribution cables in KRL and their effects on conductor resistance, voltage drop, and power losses. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with technical analysis based on field observations and technical documents collected during an internship in the Electrical Design Division of PT INKA. The data included cable length, conductor cross-sectional area, cable type, and inter-car power distribution configuration. The analysis was conducted by calculating the conductor resistance based on the characteristics of the distribution cables, followed by a load flow simulation using ETAP software to obtain the voltage profile, voltage drop, and power losses of the power distribution system. The results showed that the highest conductor resistance was found in the AUX 2 line at 2.450 Ω, while the lowest resistance was observed in the AUX 6 line at 0.410 Ω. The ETAP simulation indicated that the maximum voltage drop occurred in the Main Feeder at 0.41%, while the highest power loss of 0.10 kW also occurred in the Main Feeder. These results indicate that the characteristics of the conductors influence the voltage drop and power losses in the inter-car power distribution system of Electric Rail Trains (KRL). Furthermore, the study revealed that cable length and conductor cross-sectional area influence the conductor resistance of the inter-car power distribution system, while load current and conductor resistance determine the magnitude of voltage drop and power losses.
