Abstract

This study aimed to examine the relationship between self-compassion and psychological well-being among students of the Boarding School MAN 1 Surakarta. The study employed a quantitative correlational approach. The population consisted of 257 students, with a sample of 76 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Self-Compassion Scale adapted from Sugianto et al. (2020) and the Psychological Well-Being Scale based on Ryff’s model. Pearson correlation analysis was applied. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between self-compassion and psychological well-being (r = 0.710; p < 0.05), with an effective contribution of 50.41%. The higher the students’ self-compassion, the higher their psychological well-being. Self-compassion serves as an important protective factor for students’ mental health and psychological well-being in a boarding school environment.
