Abstract

Discussion is an important activity in expressing opinions and exchanging information between individuals. Social media has now become a forum for discussion, but the available topics tend to be general and less specific. Therefore, this study aims to develop a discussion forum system that focuses on film topics, so that it can become a forum for users who share the same interests in the field. This system was developed using the Waterfall software development method which includes the stages of needs analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. In addition, the system also applies the Content-Based Filtering method to provide film recommendations based on user preferences, especially based on the genre of interest. The results of system testing using the Black Box Testing method and testing the Content-based Filtering algorithm showed that the system and algorithm functioned well. Testing was also conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) on 30 respondents, obtaining a score of 78.8, which indicates that the system has a good level of usability and is acceptable to users. Based on these results, the system has a level of usability that is acceptable to users as an effective and relevant discussion medium.
