Abstract
K-pop has become a global phenomenon in pop culture, attracting fans from various countries, including Indonesia. With the rapid development of technology, fans can easily access information about their idols. Parents are concerned about their children's excessive use of technology, which can have negative impacts such as radiation exposure. This study aims to examine the level of communication and tolerance of parents towards teenagers who join the K-pop fandom, and to identify how this level of communication and tolerance can create a balance between involvement in the K-pop fandom and technology use. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with an in-depth interview approach. The results show that communication patterns between parents and K-pop teenagers tend to lead to a consensual family type, characterized by a high conversational orientation and a high compliance orientation. Effective communication in a consensual family allows for a balance between children's freedom of expression and parental control, which supports children's interests without neglecting academic and social responsibilities.
