Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the profile of food product consumers and their legal protection against labeling requirements. This can be in the form of writing, photographs, or a combination of both. One of the consumer's rights is to have a label that shows that the information is true, clear, and honest. However, both businesses and consumers do not pay attention to labeling issues, especially those related to food product labels. This study applies a doctrinal method, where the type of study conducted explores the legal protection provided to food product consumers in relation to the provisions stated on the label. Meanwhile, data analysis was conducted using a qualitative normative approach. The findings of this study reveal that labeling of food products in accordance with applicable regulations does not fully fulfill the principles of consumer protection.
