Abstract

Nonformal Islamic education is education organized outside the formal education system to meet the learning needs of the community, particularly in the field of religion. In the present era, mosques function not only as places of worship but also as centers of Islamic education that play a role in nurturing the Muslim community. One form of such nonformal Islamic education is the hadith study activities conducted at Darussalam Mosque, Pengkok Village, Kedawung District, Sragen Regency. This study aims to describe the implementation of nonformal Islamic education through hadith study activities at Darussalam Mosque, Pengkok Village, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employs a field research method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis used descriptive qualitative techniques. The results of the study indicate that nonformal Islamic education at Darussalam Mosque has been running well and continues to develop. Hadith study activities have become one of the flagship programs that attract public interest and are attended by people from various backgrounds. Supporting factors for the success of these activities include community support, the active role of the mosque management, and the competence of the speakers. Inhibiting factors include differences in the participants’ backgrounds and the limited time availability of some attendees. In conclusion, hadith study activities at Darussalam Mosque play a strategic role as a means of nonformal Islamic education in enhancing religious understanding and the practice of Islamic teachings within the community.
