Abstract
This study aims to analyze the relationship between workload and perceptions of the work environment on employees’ psychological well-being. A correlational research design was employed using multiple linear regression analysis on 159 employees of the Regional Office of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional V, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a psychological well-being scale adapted from Carol D. Ryff et al. (1995), a workload scale based on the NASA-TLX developed by Sandra G. Hart and Lowell E. Staveland (1988), and a perceptions of the work environment scale adapted from Viana (2017). The results revealed that workload and perceptions of the work environment simultaneously have a significant relationship with psychological well-being (R = 0.725; R² = 0.526; p < 0.001). However, only perceptions of the work environment showed a positive and significant relationship with psychological well-being (r = 0.724; p < 0.001), while workload was not significantly related (r = 0.161; p = 0.979). These findings suggest that employees’ psychological well-being is more strongly associated with how they perceive their work environment than with the level of workload they experience. Therefore, organizations are encouraged to foster a supportive work environment to enhance employees’ psychological well-being.
