Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological process experienced by every woman, beginning with the meeting of an egg (ovum) with a sperm cell (spermatozoa), then developing into a fetus in the uterus until delivery. Pregnancy is generally divided into three stages: the first, second, and third trimesters. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in the effect of providing pregnancy exercises and massage with pregnancy exercises and tapping on increasing functional activity, and to compare the difference in the effect of pregnancy exercises and massage with pregnancy exercises and tapping on increasing functional activity in pregnant women. This research method used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test. Subjects were divided into two groups: the prenatal exercise and massage intervention group and the prenatal exercise and tapping intervention group. Both groups were measured before and after the intervention to determine differences in functional activity. The results of this study showed that both groups experienced an increase in functional activity after the intervention. This indicates that prenatal exercise and tapping were more effective than prenatal exercise and massage. The results of the intergroup comparison test showed that the increase in functional activity in the prenatal exercise and tapping group was greater than the prenatal exercise and massage group with a p value <0.05.
