Abstract

Literary works reflect social life through their characters as well as the author’s values and cultural background. The novel Bhisma Mahawira by Ardian Kresna presents the characterization of the main character as an important structural element that develops the story and conveys life values. This study aims to describe the characterization of the main character, Bhisma, and its relevance to the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with the main character’s traits as the object and the novel Bhisma Mahawira as the subject. Data were collected through library research, close reading, and analysis of textual excerpts based on Minderop’s characterization theory using the telling and showing methods. Data analysis was conducted through content analysis and supported by data validity tests. The results show that Bhisma’s characterization is predominantly constructed through the showing method, revealing traits such as wisdom, loyalty, spirituality, and a spirit of sacrifice. These characteristics strongly align with the six dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, indicating that the novel has potential as a medium for strengthening students’ character development.
